Curriculum Vitae (PDF)

I was blessed to grow up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. There, I spent many years exploring the woods atop my beloved horses and admiring the beauty of the forests. Summers found me nearly every day down on the banks of the Yuba River, swimming and hiking the same trails used by the gold miners of the 1800’s.
In the winter, we’d venture up to the snow, enjoying the quiet solitude of backcountry nordic ski trails. At night, or when the weather was fierce, I was lucky enough to have a crafts room at my parents home, where I would draw, paint, sculpt, sew, knit, and design my own clothes and jewelry.
Fast-forward twenty years, and I’ve graduated from college with degrees in both biology and scientific illustration. I’ve held a variety of fantastic jobs that included such exciting adventures as being chased by a moose in Idaho, tracking bears by moonlight, backpacking into the Sierra high country, fording swift streams in Colorado and catching sharks in the San Francisco Bay.
Currently, I am persuing a freelance career in scientific illustration and teaching workshops in realistic drawing techniques using inspiring objects from the natural world.
When not working, I enjoy traveling (my favorite: Hawaii, most exotic: Turkey) scuba diving in the Caribbean, snowboarding and hiking with my golden retriever.
