Spent an incredible day rafting the Yuba River to observe the mighty Chinook Salmon fighting their way up the swift river to spawn. Their numbers have declined drastically in recent years and we were there to document the obstacles they face.

I’ve just taken over the position of Membership Secretary for the northern California chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. I’m looking forward to the challenge!

I have started working with a wonderful group called Youth In Arts, a program that matches artists and teachers for art residencies in the local schools. I’ll be working in science classrooms and integrating art activities with their science curriculum and the California State Educational Standards. I’m delighted to be working with kids again. |

Just returned from an incredible trip to Madison, Wisconsin for our annual GNSI meeting where we indulged in the locally famous steak and milkshakes (though not at the same time!).
Gave a slide presentation to the Bay Area Carnivorous Plant Society on one of my favorite subjects- the cobra lily and its relatives, which I studied for my master’s thesis at Humboldt State University.

Relocated to the San Francisco Bay area and am currently completing an internship at the California Academy of Sciences.
